Bugatti and Rimac's new Joint Venture.

Bugatti has decided to join hands with the electric supercar giant, Rimac Automobili to form a completely new automotive company, the Bugatti Rimac. The newly formed Bugatti Rimac d.o.o is said to be a limited liability company and it is expected to commence operations as a completely new entity by 2023 or sooner.

The partnership between Bugatti and Rimac is a ‘wild card’ partnership in the automotive world as our imagination is not geared for such kind of ‘exotic’ partnership.

This new partnership will spawn future supercars and hypercars for both Bugatti and Rimac Automobili, and the partnership is likely to benefit both companies as the former is one of the oldest and most prestigious brands in the automotive world and the latter is a disruptive newcomer in the world of hypercars that exclusively specialises on ‘insane’ electric powertrains.

As mentioned earlier, the operations of the newly formed company are set to commence by 2023, and the majority stake of 55% will be owned by Rimac Group. As a result, the headquarters of the Bugatti Rimac will be located in Zagreb, Croatia.

The new headquarters of Bugatti Rimac is built on one lakh square metres of land and over 200 million euros will be spent on it for its development. The facility is also said to directly employ 430 people.

This newly formed facility in Croatia will be responsible for developing and manufacturing future vehicles for both Bugatti and Rimac by combining their resources and expertise in research, development, production, and other areas.

Despite the newly formed Joint Venture, both Bugatti and Rimac as individual entities will continue to operate separately in their respective headquarters, production facility and sales outlets.

Thoughts

This newly formed alliance is likely to benefit both companies, as Bugatti will gain knowledge on Rimac’s next-gen electric propulsion technology that is not only kinder to the environment but also packs quite a punch, while Rimac on the other hand will benefit from Bugatti’s vast expertise in building high-speed vehicles and it will also be an opportunity for Rimac to extend their elite client base via Bugatti.
