Gran Turismo is now an official Olympic event.

 The Playstation exclusive game, Gran Turismo is now an official Olympic-sanctioned event. That being said, Gran Turismo will become part of the first-ever Olympic Virtual series along with other virtual sports like baseball, sailing, cycling and rowing.

Sony Playstation fans and creators behind the Gran Turismo game can be proud as Gran Turismo is the only game selected to represent in the Olympic Virtual series.

Introduced in 1997, Gran Turismo is recognised as a pioneer in racing simulation games and received official recognition of FIA in 2018 as the franchise has been running competitive e-tournaments for a long time.

As the real motorsports events themselves are not part of Olympic Sports, the inclusion of Gran Turismo in the Olympic Virtual series comes as a surprise to many people around the world.

The new Olympic Virtual series is also a great platform for the Olympics to attract a younger audience and offer them a platform to represent their country. The new Olympic Virtual series is scheduled from the 13th of May 2021 to the 23rd of June 2021.

The participants all around the world can join virtually on the respective gaming platforms, allowing the participants to join even from their home; a positive move considering the tough pandemic situations. For the fans, they can engage in this Olympic Virtual series through the Olympic Channel.

For the upcoming Olympic Virtual series, the International Olympic Committee will partner with five international sporting federations and game publishers.
