The 295hp Volkswagen ID.4 GTX .

The new 295hp Volkswagen ID.4 GTX is here, with that Volkswagen brings back the ‘GTX’ badging and will be used exclusively for denoting the performance-oriented ID models.

While the standard ID.4 uses just one 201hp electric motor, the new Volkswagen ID.4 GTX uses two electric motors placed at each axle to puts out an impressive 295hp. However, Volkswagen is yet to release official torque figures.

Performance-wise, the new ID.4 GTX takes just 6.2 seconds to reach 100kmph from a standstill, which is almost 2.3 seconds faster than the standard ID.4. The top speed has also been increased from 160kmph to 180kmph to further justify the GTX badging.

The new Volkswagen ID.4 GTX uses a 77kWh battery pack to store electricity and it can be charged at a maximum rate of 125kW from a suitable fast charger which translates to 300kms of range in just 30 minutes.

Volkswagen claims that their new ID.4 GTX can cover 480kms on a full charge (under the WLTP cycle), which is just 20kms shy from the 500kms benchmark set by the standard Volkswagen ID.4. It is not sure whether Volkswagen will introduce an ‘R’ badge to satisfy the demands in the market.

As in Germany, the new Volkswagen ID.4 GTX costs almost €50,415 which is almost €6000 more than the standard ID.4. Justifying the price, you get 20-inch alloy wheels, LED Matrix headlamps, blackened spoiler, heated steering wheel, ambient lighting, contrasting red stitching and 15mm lower ride height with a sportier steering rack.

The new Volkswagen ID.4 is a good way to spice up the eco-friendly all-electric range of Volkswagen. It may not outsell the standard ID.4 but it will attract more customers to consider electric mobility.
