Skoda has updated Kodiaq for 2021.
Skoda has now unveiled the updated Skoda Kodiaq for 2021 with new engines and visual tweaks. As part of the update, Skoda brings small revisions with exterior styling elements, but makes a bigger impact on the overall exterior design and it is instantly recognisable as the updated version.
The rear also sports a new
integrated spoiler for improving aerodynamics, but the side profile remains almost
identical to the outgoing version. The update brings a variety of alloy wheels
ranging from 17-inch to 20-inch. The larger 20-inch alloy wheels come with
metallic black finish for the RS variant.
The change in the interior is far
more subdued compared with the exterior and feels largely the same. The new
Skoda Kodiaq now comes with optional ergonomic leather seats with perforation
and powered front seats.
There is also an uprated 10-speaker Canton music system with boot mounted sub-woofer. The interior is dominated by a large 9.2-inch touch screen infotainment system and 10.25-inch digital instrument panel.
The 2021 Skoda gets a new
2.0-litre turbocharged TSI petrol engine for the RS variant and produces 245hp,
making it 5hp more powerful and 60 kgs lighter than the previous 2.0-litre
diesel engine it is replacing.
Internationally, the standard Skoda
Kodiaq two petrol and one diesel engine. The basic petrol motor is a 1.5-litre
TSI engine with 150hp, while the more potent version is a 2.0-litre TSI engine
with 190hp. The diesel engine is a 2.0-litre unit that comes in two states of
tune, 150hp, and 200hp.
All engine options are expected to come with a new 7-speed DSG-gearbox, which is almost 5.2 kgs lighter than the earlier model.
What we think it is.
The new Skoda Kodiaq may not
bring game-changing updates for 2021, but Skoda has strengthened the positive
qualities in Kodiaq with stronger engines and better interiors. If you are
looking for an SUV with good driving dynamics, look no further.
