2022 Porsche 911 GT3

Looking at an immediate predecessor of any Porsche 911 will make you think that being a designer at Porsche will be the easiest job one can do, but things are far from that for sure.

Every Porsche 911 has set the benchmarks higher-up with each successive generation and every aspect of its design is there to serve a purpose.

The new 992 generation 911 was unveiled way back in 2018 and the wait for the GT3 version is finally over for the Porsche-purists.

The new Porsche 911 GT3 is almost as fast as the hardcore 991.2 generation 911 GT3RS, lapping the Nürburgring in just 6 minutes and 59.92 seconds with the optional Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 R tyres.

The engine is a 4.0L flat-6 devoid of any forced induction yet produces an astonishing 510PS and revs to almost bike like 9000rpm! A 7-Speed PDK transmission comes as standard but one can also opt for a driver-focussed 6-Speed manual transmission.

Porsche claims that the new 992 generation 911 can produce as much as 150% more downforce at 200km/h compared to its predecessor. The substantial increase in downforce was achieved by using swan-neck mounting for the spoiler and 911 RSR derived diffuser.

The influence of Porsche racing can be further traced to suspension, where a double-wishbone suspension is being used in a road-going 911 for the first time. This along with the standard rear-wheel steering aids cornering agility and stability at the same time.

The new Porsche 911 GT3 is definitely a step-up in the right direction and will soon be available for bookings at nearby Porsche showrooms in UAE and other GCC markets.
