How feasible is electric propulsion?
When you think of electric vehicles, the first thing that jumps into your mind is the range and almost all people are anxious about the range of electric vehicles, which is further amplified by the long charging time.
But most people fail to understand the actual range of most electric cars can easily cover the daily needs without any hassle.
This is especially true to people who have an almost fixed commute distance on their daily basis. For most people working in expensive cities like London, office commute for a person with car is around 50km a day- which is around 1500km over a month.
Given the high cost of fuel in European cities (AED 6.04/litre of petrol), the fuel expenses for small city car can be as high as AED6500, whereas cost of running an electric car for a similar commute can only costs around AED2000 even with relatively high electricity cost ($0.02/kWh vs $0.18/kWh).
Apart from Year-on-Year financial savings of an electric
car, the driving experience is also much better compared to their nearest
petrol-powered counterparts.
Electric cars are definitely the future of automotive transport, the question is how sooner are you willing to change?
