Mercedes-Benz EQA revealed.

Following the rapid growth in the EV segment, Mercedes has picked up its pace on electric cars. The new Mercedes-Benz EQA will be the entry point in Mercedes EQ range.

Mercedes has now confirmed that there will be a total of six-models under the EQ range. Mercedes-Benz EQA is a five-seater crossover based on the latest GLA platform.

To visually differentiate the EQA from regular gasoline-powered models, Mercedes has made some changes to the exterior.

The front grille is now replaced by a faux grille finished in gloss black, a horizontal optical DRL connects the two headlights for a futuristic look, and the rear also incorporates similar treatment with a thick light bar which connects tail lamps.

However, the interior is pretty much similar to the conventional model albeit with few changes made to suit the EV nature.

Being electric, Mercedes have also tweaked the aerodynamics further to make it as slippery as possible while cutting through the air. As a result, the drag coefficient is remarkably low at just 0.28.

Initially, the Mercedes-Benz EQA will be offered in ‘250’ guise, the EQA 250 will utilise a single electric motor placed at the front capable of pushing 190hp and 275Nm of torque, driving the front wheels alone.

Power is stored in a 66.5kWh(usable) battery, giving it a WLTP range of 426km. The battery can be charged at a maximum rate of 100kW, in which 80% of the battery can be charged in just 30minutes.

The new Mercedes EQA is priced around £39,000(Inc. Government grant) and is expected to be launched in March.
