Jaguar F-Pace SVR updated for 2021
Jaguars are quite well known for driving dynamics, they even pip BMWs in the handling department. The Jaguar F-Pace is no different, it is the yardstick to measure the dynamics of other sporty SUVs.
As part of the update streak in JLR, Jaguar has also updated their F-Pace range but the Jaguar F-Pace SVR gets some extras as well.
The front is now much more aggressive-looking compared to the outgoing model with X-shaped elements on the front bumper along with larger air intakes, the headlight housings are also much slimmer than before with an option for pixel LED headlights and a new bonnet with ‘power bulge’ to compliment the more aggressive looks.
The
subtle changes to the exterior help the new Jaguar F-Pace SVR reduce the lift
by 35% while improving the drag coefficient as well.
On
the Inside, the new Jaguar F-Pace SVR gets JLR’s latest Pivi Pro infotainment
system running on an 11.4-inch touch screen and the driver also gets a larger
12.3-inch digital instrument cluster with SVR exclusive graphics.
As part of the update, Jaguar has also replaced the rotary gear selector knob with a more conventional unit, the seats are also redesigned for a sportier look and feel.
This
is where the update streak ends for the regular 2021 JLR models, but the new
Jaguar F-Pace SVR also received some updates under the skin.
The
new Jaguar F-Pace SVR now gets an uprated 5.0L supercharged V8 with an
identical 550hp but the torque is now 20Nm more at 700Nm. The gearbox is an
8-speed torque converter unit from the Jaguar XE SV Project 8 saloon to aid the
uprated engine.
As
a result of uprated engine and a new gearbox, the new Jaguar F-Pace SVR is
0.3sec quicker to 60mph from a stand-still at just 3.8sec and the top speed has
also increased by 2mph for a claimed 178mph.
To
complement the aggressive exterior and uprated drivetrain, the software
management program, steering and suspension have been tweaked further.
The
updated software adds two new driving modes: Eco and Rain-Ice-Snow. As part of
the new updated software and electronics package, the new Jaguar F-Pace SVR
also receives an “Auto Vehicle Hold” function, which is claimed to be smoother
than hill-hold function, and along with these is a more aggressive mapping for
the existing Dynamic mode.
To
improve road feel, engineers at JLR has fitted a new steering rack, electronic
brake booster, revised adaptive dampers and, chassis bushes.
The
new Jaguar F-Pace SVR is already available in the UK for £77,595. An increase
of £2000 over the previous model.
