Subaru adds more power to its 2022 BRZ
Subaru has recently updated BRZ for 2022. Unlike most updates, Subaru have added more power to the engine by upsizing rather than adding a forced induction system like a turbocharger or a supercharger.
The
new 2.4L naturally aspirated engine makes 228hp and 250Nm of torque, which is
23hp and 38Nm more torque than previous 2.0L naturally aspirated engine. The
new engine will be mated to a 6-speed manual transmission as standard, while an
automatic transmission will also be available later stages.
The
updated Subaru BRZ is also substantially stiffer than the existing model;
Subaru claims that the overall rigidity has been increased by 50%.
Even
with new larger engine and some additional chassis stiffening, the updated
Subaru BRZ is just 7kg more than the outgoing model.
For
the fans though, the update is not part of their prayers as they have not
received a turbocharged version, but this car is more of a canvas than a sports
car, the limits of modifications and improvements are limited only to one’s
imaginations and budget.
The updated Subaru BRZ will go on sale in US by mid-2021. How the new Subaru BRZ will perform and handle with newer updates is yet to be seen.
