SSC Tuatara. 500+kmph Top Speed

Carrying the name ‘Shelby’ means you have to deliver the performance and boy-o-boy what a performance the Shelby Super Cars delivered.

The SSC is the first automotive company to break the 500kph barrier in a production car with an average speed of 508.73kph beating the previous record holder Koenigsegg Agera RS (447.19kph) by quite a margin.

The SSC Tuatara driven by professional racing driver Oliver Webb hit a top speed of over 532kph in one of those runs. 

Powering the SSC Tuatara is a twin-turbocharged 5.9L V8 engine with a flat-plane crank that pushes out 1350hp with regular petrol and mammoth 1750hp while sipping E-85 blend (85% Ethanol- 15%Petrol mixture).

As with many world record attempts, this too is not without any controversies. As youtubers have found some discrepancies in video where the data logging unit had some inconsistency with video displayed.
