Nissan's first Middle East launch since the pandemic.

2021 Nissan X-Terra is Nissan’s first launch in the Middle East following COVID-19 and marks the return of Xterra name plate in their Middle East product portfolio since 2015.

For 2021, Nissan also updated the name which is now dubbed as “X-Terra” rather than “Xterra”.

The previous gen Nissan Xterra may have looked like a Chinese copy-cat version of Land Rover LR3. However, the new one has been inspired by the design of Nissan Patrol and it works quite well too.

Speaking of looks, the large Headlamps are All-LED unit with C-shaped DRLs, the high and horizontal bonnet along with flared wheel arches greatly enhance the presence and looks.

Nissan has even loaded it with all the latest tech to meet the requirements of an urbanite. It even comes with features such as Blind Spot Warning, Intelligent Forward Collision Warning, Lane Departure Warning, Intelligent Driver Alertness and there is even a system to stop you crashing into other cars while reversing called as Rear Cross Traffic Alert.

The interior is also very nicely laid out with a large 9-inch infotainment unit and “Zero Gravity” seats for the first two rows.

However, the big question is whether the X-Terra is just as good as Xterra Off-road, as the previous gen Nissan Xterra was one of those few SUVs which was good on road but even better when off it.

The previous generation Nissan Xterra was loved among enthusiast for its ruggedness and reliability. Keeping this in mind, Nissan chose to stick with ladder frame chassis for the 2021 Nissan X-Terra.

The 2021 Nissan X-Terra even comes with low range gearbox and lockable central differential for those rare hardcore off-road situations. But due to ever stringent emission rules, the 2021 Nissan X-Terra is powered by a 2.5L In-line four-cylinder petrol engine and comes mated to a 7-speed automatic transmission as standard.

As of now this is the sole engine on offer. This might be a bit of bummer for enthusiasts but for most duties it is still plentiful.

The 2021 Nissan X-Terra is already available in Middle East.
