Hyundai i20N with more power from 2021

Hyundai is a brand not famous for sports cars. Maybe, if you google for an antonym for sports cars you may even get Hyundai in suggestions.

However, Hyundai shocked everyone when they launched the i30 N back in 2018. It incorporated the original spirit of hot hatches by making it powerful yet really fun to drive and easy to live with.

With the launch of Hyundai i30 N back in 2018, it was as if Hyundai was screaming at the face of every automotive journalist about how well they can make cars, which are fun to drive and characterful.

The new 2021 Hyundai i20N is powered by a 1.6L turbocharged four-cylinder engine capable of converting petrol and air into 204hp and 275Nm of torque. The engine is paired to a 6-speed manual gearbox as standard.

Hyundai claims to add an 8-speed dual-clutch unit if there is enough demand from global markets for an automatic gearbox. I am not against automatic gearboxes as they are convenient in day-day duties.

The new Hyundai i20N will go up against the likes of VW Polo GTI, Ford Fiesta ST, Mini Cooper S, and Peugeot 208 GTi in Europe.
